Established in 1873, Beechwood Cemetery is Canada's National Cemetery. Since 2001, it is also home to the National Military Cemetery (NMC) of the Canadian Armed Forces. Beechwood is also home to the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery, Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Cemetery & the CSIS Cemetery.
We invite you to explore our 160+ acres of beautifully manicured grounds, rolling hills, parkland, waterfall, botanical gardens and unique urban wetland (Macoun Marsh). The Beechwood grounds boast over 2,800 trees, and each Spring, more than 35,000 magnificent tulips bloom here.
The Beechwood Cemetery Foundation is a recognized not-for-profit organization and registered Canadian charity. Governed by an active volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation owns Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (BFCCS).
Each year, in addition to serving the compassionate needs of our bereaved families, Beechwood also plays host to a variety of community events where we welcome business, political and special interest groups. We offer 14,000 sq. ft. of reception/meeting rooms and catering facilities, the most notable of which is our "Sacred Space" - a nine-sided multi-functional facility which serves the commemorative, community and social needs of Canadians of diverse backgrounds. BFCCS compassionately serves and honours the memories of a multitude of Faith and cultural groups, as represented in areas especially designed for, and dedicated to their loved ones. Currently, there are some 85,000 souls laid to rest at Beechwood, with available space for decades of future Canadians.
