Ski Heritage East
- Community Events & Festivals
Ski Heritage East is a community -based organization located in eastern Ottawa. We are dedicated to the development and promotion of a multi-use winter recreational trail along the beautiful Ottawa River. Long enjoyed during summer months by cyclists, walkers, runners, etc., this Trail will now be available for classic and skate nordic skiing, snowshoeing, fat-tire cycling and of course, walking. Depending on snow conditions, the Trail should be open from early January to late March. You can help by ''Liking'' this page, suggesting it to friends and neighbours and getting out and using it. Send us a message if you wish to volunteer in some capacity.
The trail extends 8.3 km along the Ottawa river from Green's Creek to Trim Road. Its location within the community allows many points of access along the trail. This feature is particularly enjoyed by young families and those who don't want to drive to the Gatineau trails to ski. The trail has been a boon to the Cairine Wilson HS's Norkdik Ski team as well as recreational users of the trail. This is our first year of operation but the vision is to have a trail extending from Trim to the Rockliffe boathouse.
